Eric Bohl (pictured) topped a field of 378 players to win the WPTDeepStacks San Diego Main Event on Monday night at the Ocean’s Eleven Casino in Oceanside, California. Bohl was awarded $75,675 in prize money and a $3,000 Championship Package after winning a final table that clocked in at six hours of play.
Cards got into the air at 1 p.m. between the final nine players, and a long, slow stretch of play took place to kick things off. Nick Toma fell in ninth place and Nathan Schmidt busted in eighth place, but there were still seven players remaining after three hours of play. Craig Chait was the next to fall in seventh place, and then the rising blinds and antes really started to force the action. David Luttberg busted in sixth place, Atta Afzal fell in fifth place, Rod Jahanguiri hit the rail in fourth place, and Chris Brewer was knocked out in third place in the span of an hour.
Lena Evans took the chip lead into the heads-up final against Eric Bohl, but Bohl doubled up to bring things close to even. Bohl took a slight lead before the next all-in confrontation, so he had Evans covered when she shoved with As3d.
